Frequently Asked Questions

What is mobile physiotherapy?

Mobile physiotherapy is the service and expertise of a Registered Physiotherapist who will come to your home or other agreed upon location. They will bring everything required to assess and treat a new injury or persistent pain. Keeping your unique needs and goals in mind, they can also provide education and therapeutic exercises to reduce the risk of potential (re)injury.

What is telehealth and how does it work?

Telehealth is a delivery of care via video and/or voice calling through a secure server. It is an appropriate way to conduct a thorough assessment and begin treatment, primarily by educating a patient on the nature of their injury and designing a program for self-management. Telehealth can be a great way to stay connected or follow-up with your physiotherapist, especially if arranging an in-person appointment is challenging.

All you need is an internet connection, access to a smartphone, tablet or desktop computer, and to follow these instructions:

1. Book your Telehealth appointment online. We do require a credit card on file to complete your booking.
2. Complete your intake form by following the link in your booking confirmation email. Please take the time to complete this prior to your appointment.
3. You will receive an Appointment Reminder email 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Click the button at the bottom of the email to begin.
4. It is recommended that you use a laptop with a webcam for your appointment and specifically the Chrome web browser. See here how the software to connect with your physiotherapist works.

We may experience technical difficulties using Telehealth technologies. Your physiotherapist will patiently guide you through any troubleshooting. Should we loose connection, we will try and re-establish connection, we may also continue the appointment by phone.

How should I prepare for my physiotherapy appointment?

It is expected that you are willing to participate actively in your treatment. Please wear loose fitting clothing so you can move around comfortably. It would also be beneficial for you to have one or more specific goals for your physiotherapy treatment plan.

What is the cost of treatment?

The fee will depend the service type and the duration. The fees can be found in the online booking page for each service offered.

Will my health insurance cover mobile or telehealth physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy will be covered by most insurers, regardless of if it is in-person or virtual physiotherapy. Be sure to check the specifics of your plan to see how much coverage is available. We also offer direct billing to many extended health insurers in British Columbia.

Where will mobile physiotherapy be offered?

Mobile physiotherapy services will be offered in Kamloops and the surrounding rural area, up to a 45-minute driving radius. Depending on your location, service may be limited to specific days and times.

How many physiotherapy sessions will I require?

This varies greatly, depending on the individual and their condition. Ideally, we will be able to develop a plan from the beginning that will require the fewest amount of follow-ups as possible, while still maintaining patient accountability and progressing the program appropriately.

How will in-person care keep me safe during the covid-19 pandemic?

We will follow the recommendations provided by British Columbia’s Centre for Disease Control, the College of Physical Therapists of BC and Work Safe BC. This will include but may not be limited to:

  • Covid-19 screening assessment for each patient
  • Personal protective equipment when social distancing of 6-feet is not maintainable
  • Increased hand and surface sanitization before, during and after an in-person appointment
  • Provide telehealth over in-person care, whenever appropriate (e.g. patient has symptoms, hands-off treatment)
  • Contactless payment (no cash or cheques; e-transfer, credit or debit, only)

Do I require a referral from my doctor?

Physiotherapists are considered primary health care providers and can be seen without a specific referral. When indicated, the Physiotherapist may refer you on to another health care practitioner to ensure your specific needs will be met.
